About Us

Anahata Retreats, founded by Bijay J. Anand, is an organisation that brings together revered, respected and acclaimed teachers of yoga, ayurveda, wellness and spirituality from around the world, with eager to learn students and seekers of knowledge. These meetings are organised in the form of retreats or workshops that are designed with a specific target audience in mind and focus on specific areas of interest.

The venues are carefully chosen as per the nature and structure of individual retreats. A retreat with an internationally acclaimed Kundalini Yoga teacher like Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa is hosted on a small island off Goa, which is an oasis of beauty, peace and serenity, whereas a Kundalini Yoga + adventure retreat takes us to the scenic mountains of Ladakh, where we can combine the peace and quiet of nature with the myriad of adventure activities that Ladakh is renowned for.

However an Anahata Retreat may be designed, its purpose remains the same, which is:

  • To enrich the lives of its participants with spiritual, health and wellness-based activities, yoga and meditation
  • To build a community of like-minded individuals who dream of living a spiritual, joyous and blissful life, and would like to make this world a better place to live in
  • To ensure the comfort, safety and well-being of all participants, ensuring that their every need and desire is anticipated and catered to
  • Providing a soothing, serene and rich ambience during the retreat that is conducive for detoxification of mind and body

Bijay J. Anand Profile, Philosophy & Teachings

A Kundalini Yoga teacher, certified by the Kundalini Research Institute, Los Angeles, Bijay has a holistic approach to health, as well as to the elusive word "Happiness".

The principle philosophy behind Bijay's teachings is love and its connection with the fourth chakra in our body called the An?hata Chakra. Intertwined with his philosophy of love is the emphasis on a pure, organic and natural way of life.

Bijay’s tryst with yoga started 25 years ago. Blessed with an inquisitive mind, he exposed himself to various forms of yoga including Ashthanga Vinyasa and Hatha. But what really inspired him was the style, philosophy and teachings of Mr BK Iyengar.

His first experience with Kundalini Yoga was with one of the most acclaimed and revered Kundlini teachers, Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa. The first 10 minutes of his exposure to this ancient science to awaken the Kundalini and cleanse the chakras moved him so deeply that he knew instantly that he had found what he had been searching for in his entire life.

Bijay is now one of the leading Kundalini Yoga teachers in the world, widely acclaimed and admired for his empathy and feelings driven approach to the science. He conducts Retreats and Wellness Programs based on Kundalini Yoga in India and across cities in Europe, the U.S. , Latin America, the Middle East and in the Asia Pacific Region. Bijay’s impactful wellness programs have touched the lives of thousands of participants across continents.

Bijay has just completed a book titled “Mindlessness to Mindfulness”. This book, due to be released shortly , lays down the ground rules for living a life of awareness and mindfulness.

He looks forward to sharing his understanding of love, health, life and relationships with those that have a genuine passion and a committed desire to change their lives for the better.

Bijay's Thoughts

What makes a spiritual journey really interesting is not the few pure, joyous souls who see your greatness and love you for it but the wider majority of unhappy ones that loathe your radiance and use every opportunity presented to them to bring you down. The higher your state of evolution, the more nastiness you attract. There are no exceptions to this rule.
The difference between religion and spirituality.
In spirituality there is no right or wrong.
Everything that you do or wish to do is part of your journey. For the enlightened, every desire, action and the consequence thereof is a part of his journey to learn, experience and grow.
Religion puts your soul in chains while spirituality sets you free.
Maya keeps us trapped in her enchanted gaze our entire lives. With closed eyes, within the silence of our soul we see clearly, that we already have more than we desire, that we are better than what we wish to be, and that our lives have a higher purpose than we thought.
Waste not your life looking for a perfect spouse seek one who accepts you with your own imperfections
You never step into the same river twice. The only thing that is constant in this life is change. Do not fight change. Accept it. Embrace it. Those who fear change, fear their own failings. The good take on life chins up and fearless, bright, shining eyes.
Of course, you cannot kick a block of wood. Kicking an inanimate object shows that you have the spite inside of your heart to be agitated, violent or spiteful. This is not good. The entire universe is energy. Everything in this world, including human beings are made up of billions of cells. Even the block of wood. It has a life of its own. The wise respect and care for everything around them. They are gentle and kind. They see life in everything.
A teachers job is never a pretty one. Nobody really wants to hear the truth. Neither about the true essence of life nor about themselves. And yet, an authentic teacher does what he has to, says what he has to. Teaching is not a popularity contest. The endeavour is to help save souls. And if you didn't like the class.
